Finally got some time to add up more stuffs into the shelves. Still got no idea for just one empty shelve before I’m doing shading and digital assets to most of the objects.
Sigh…maybe sculpting? another lamp?…
Cheers..
An attempt to demystifying archviz using Sidefx Houdini’s Mantra. A mini project but yet quite fun. Darktable is used for retouching the results.
Gee..It’s been 7 months since I’ve updated my blog. 2012 is near, whether the prophecy is true I don’t really know but I just want to wrap up some of my updated demo reel first.
The first piece that I’m in the process of in the making right now is just pretty simple yet complex. Back to basic I guess, just go back to fundamentals of arts and painting. A Still Life piece, an obstacle that most artists struggling with. It’s very basic stuffs, where you just paint or render any still objects (usually food, porcelain, etc.). As it easy as it sounds, it’s not actually that easy.
To capture the soul of still life painting, I need to have a good composition of staging, lighting and texture. Still life painting is also gives a set of challenges because there are mix of different materials such as combinations of organic and inorganic at the same time. In CG terms, that means I have almost whole array of CG challenges that I need to tackle starting from diffuse, reflections, refractions, SSS, displacement and soft shadowing.
I just finished the first part, which is blocking some main objects in terms of compositions. The fruit plate is modelled by Jeremy Birn included in www.3drender.com for doing lighting challenges. This I admit has been my best model for learning lighting and rendering. For the rest I modeled them myself.
Still quite a more to go. I plan to add organic plants, maybe flower or so (since I got a pot in there for a reason :p) . Candles, cloth or background objects. This work hasn’t been edited yet, is a straight render fresh from Houdini’s Mantra.
Cheerio!!
Ahh finally I’m done with my latest piece. I’m quite ok with the result, after all this is a free time project. Been trying to get some chance to put the simplicity of a Japanese architecture in CG, finally got the time and mental to do it.
Kind of a on fire so, going to think on some more of this kind of project to do…
Cheerio..
After some thinking I decided to add some tidbits to add up more into the tea set. Since I think the room lacks of organic stuffs. Still need to refined the macha sweet cake. Blocking the room with current lighting only which is quite early morning time just to get a general feeling on how I’m going to finish this work.
So the WIP so far gave me quite a view on the room in general and how to represent the tea set most importantly. Anyway still a long way to go, still haven’t decided with what mood that I’m going to choose. I think I’m gonna do some test with different rigs just to see where it goes.
Cheers..
Okay, it’s been a while since I dabbled with my blog of mine. Busy doing this and that, figures to update my recent “free-time-project”. This time it’s still not far away from tea pot and room containing one of them. It’s a traditional Japanese Tea Room. Just finished modelling stage and continue on blocking cams and lights and do the shading and finally the final curtains of a final beauty image. Gosh that was a mouthful. Here’s the WIP of my project will update more and finishing up more.
Plans to have more variety on lighting ends but let’s see wheter time can allow me to do that. Yooshh!!
With half asleep eyes, moved my fingers over my mouse. Found what I’ve started on my free time last september. Decided to finish it, made a scrap of it. The idea is a simple classic kitchen in a village ready to enjoy afternoon tea time. Don’t know where to go after this. Just render it and be done with it. I hate an unfinished stuffs..
Nite..nite..oops it’s daylite alredy…
After struggling with texturing and blocking all the colors, finally I stepped into lighting stage to start blocking all colors and mood first. Here’s the first attempt to block the lighting :

There are still lots of homework to be done for this one :
1. The wall sucks, need to change it somehow to match up the whole room
2. Need to add up some props to make it more interesting like wall phone, wires, etc.
3. Fix the red grain inside the bottle, looks like frozen blood pellets.
4. Umbrella holder looks fake, need to find more reference to make it better
5. Revise lighting
6. Setup renderpasses
7. Look for more appropriate backdrop
So much to do in so little time. Sigh..hope it works well
Decided to take a look at the past. Remember some stuffs about an idea of a project that me and my best friend planning to do. Well, after some sketching and stuffs I decided to give it a go. Revisiting an old project but only taking a portion of the set which is the kitchen area. I’m going to have an afternoon tea time kind of feeling for this project. It’s been a long time since the last time I do modelling (not on the catwalk of course), so a simple set like this took me 3 days to work with.

Kitchen Outlines
Been thinking to add more classic props to make the kitchen less modern or uptodate. Sigh…it’s still on the early stage, wishing the boring stuffs can get away fast and goes to lighting it.
